The Hazel & Teal Approach
Hazel & Teal Therapy is deeply aligned with holistic and integrated approaches to mental health, emphasizing voice, choice and supportive collaboration. Driven by a commitment to creating high-quality, inclusive, and practical therapeutic support helping to bridge gaps in access to standardized therapy. Our approach focuses on the psychological or emotional aspects of a person’s life but also on their overall well-being, including physical, social, and spiritual dimensions, considering the whole person, recognizing that multiple factors influence mental health.
While therapy can often have a tunneled focus on using specifics approaches at Hazel & Teal services are individualized and very much centered around how the individual feels. Counselling at Hazel & Teal helps individual connect to their encounters past and present.
Integrated therapy refers to an approach that combines techniques and strategies from different therapeutic models to create a more flexible, holistic, and individualized experience for clients based on the person’s unique circumstances and preferences. This flexibility helps address the complexity of human experiences in a more personalized way. Instead of adhering to a single therapeutic school of thought, integrated therapy draws on various methods, blending the most effective elements from each to address the specific needs, challenges, and goals of the client.
Some key features of integrated therapy include a holistic approach, adaptability & flexibility, collaboration and person centered care.
Combining Approaches:
Integrated therapy at Hazel & Teal may blend elements from different therapeutic models, such as:
Trauma-Informed Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Focuses on changing negative thought patterns and behaviors.
Narrative Therapy: Explores unconscious patterns and past experiences to understand current issues through self exploration based in discussion
Internal Family Systems Therapy: Views the mind as made up of different parts, each with its own emotions and behaviors. It helps individuals heal and integrate these parts, with the goal of restoring balance through the compassionate guidance of the core self.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy: Encourages presence and acceptance of thoughts and feelings without judgment.
The Flash Technique - Trauma processing: This is a modified protocol. It is a safe and effective standalone trauma reprocessing strategy that reduces acute distress resulting from recent traumatic events and grief. It supports client’s journeys to address traumatic grief and distressing childhood memories that show up during parenting and through the lifetime. This is done through integrative art based drawing. This can be done online; it requires minimal equipment and skill level.
